Description
The Cabernet Franc Friuli DOC Grave wine is a true gem of the Friulian landscape, cultivated in the calcareous, mineral-rich soils of the western DOC Grave area, enriched with clay and sandy sediments. Cabernet Franc is the perfect complement to dishes with bold flavors. On the nose, it offers an enticing bouquet of fruity and herbal aromas, with notes of blackberries, wild raspberries, sour cherries, and freshly cut hay.
Visually, it presents a deep, intense ruby red color. On the palate, the Cabernet Franc Friuli DOC Grave is dynamic, with a prominent tannic structure that is not overpowering but beautifully balanced, creating a sense of harmony and smoothness that envelops the senses. This red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted red meats, game, the renowned Pitina from Val Tramontina, and stuffed guinea fowl.
Curiosity
The vine, introduced in Italy under the name Cabernet Franc, is actually Carmenère, which originated in Médoc. Professor Mario Fregoni was the first to conduct research and identify the differences between the two varieties.
